Chronicles of Wonderment

A record of things that happened from a place of awed admiration.

If I were to give a title to what is that I do, I would choose the term “storyteller”. Sometimes it is with words, sometimes with still images, other times with short storied films, and always with how I live the days of my life. I am moved by admiration and gratitude. I find beauty, like little sparks of magic, most often in the simplest of moments where purity and reverence meet. Stories come alive to me through all five senses, and it is my ambition to arouse those senses within each area of work.

Photography

It began with a camera
A means to see the world
A medium to chronicle sentiments
And there were stories
A glimpse of a moment
Time elapsed.
Another take, another tale.

“Ones sees clearly only with the heart. What is essential is invisible to the eye.” -Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

In spring of 2022, after more than a decade of professionally taking still images, I began to explore the world of creating short, storied films. As with photography, the passion came about from a desire to document my personal joys. I had long held a dream in my heart to bring to life song lyrics I had written for my children in 2020; A Song of Spring. This project awakened a new means to tell stories, first, of my own, then of others as I connected to the heart of their narrative. There is such pleasure in brining movement, music, and voice into a finished work which presents the kind of story we all want to be reminded that we are in fact living.. Through storied films I am able to reveal a truth which often becomes shadowed by the weight of this world, with hopes that my work will be the spark that sheds light on the source of our joys. It isn’t a quick work. It is slow and patient. It is observant and appreciative. It goes deep into the heart of the experience and draws from the well of intention; the place where all acts are born from.

“Dear old world', she murmured, 'you are very lovely, and I am glad to be alive in you.” — L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
